#5MinutesOfFame With Meenakshi Pamnani

Hey there!

Thanks for stopping by!

Today on #5MinutesOfFame, we have Meenakshi Pamnani aka The Shimmer Girl. For most of us, her Instagram profile is a sight for the sore eyes and all body types (Oh yes, we intended that to rhyme). Well, she is known to have a strong opinion about fashion and boy, we love how she makes fashion accessible and inclusive by utilizing Instagram as a platform to invite and celebrate diversity for real men and women.

Let’s welcome Meenakshi!

Tell us an inspirational moment that made you the person you are today

There are so many things that happen every day, followed by ups and downs and rejections. But what I believe is that as long as you trust yourself, you can never look at yourself as a failure. Keep pushing and inspiring yourself every day. Do not give up. Believing in this ideology has helped me become the person I am today.

We all have idols we look up to. Who was yours growing up, and why?

My dad is my idol. His discipline and punctuality have played a huge role in my life and the decisions I make. I am the kind of person who always tries to get things done perfectly, and I can say for sure that much of my personality can be attributed to my dad’s influence.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

When I was young, I wanted to do something in finance, but as I grew up, I realized that it wasn’t for me. After the age of 12, I really started developing an interest in creative stuff and fashion. I thought I would work in the advertising industry, but life had other plans as you can see.

Who is your Instagram inspiration, and why?

There are so many people that I follow and each one of them does content that relates to them the most. All of us have to understand that every person is different, so are their interests. While we can seek inspiration from others, we should try to be as authentic to ourselves as possible. We need to create content that relates to our audience. Whenever I curate content for my audience, I ask myself if I have added value to them. At the end of the day, I want them to take something useful out of the posts that I put up and ensure that I can help them enhance their own lives.

Crazy #hashtags you’re hooked onto at the moment

#Weddings – I am a die-hard fan of wedding-related content, and curating wedding looks.

#PrettyCityLondon and #PrettyLittleLondon are my go-to hashtags because I spent the last three years in London and I love to stay up-to-date with the latest news trending there.

2020 has been hard. What has changed in your life, personally and professionally?

2020 has been hard on every person but I am grateful. Thanks to the pandemic, I have been spending a lot of time with my family. I have tried to become calmer and learned how to take things as it comes. Professionally, I have been focusing more on my creativity, trying to be a responsible blogger. That’s why I am very selective with the content that I post now so that my audience can benefit from it completely.

Which is the dream brand you’ve always wanted to work with, and why?

There are multiple brands that I have always wanted to work with. But off late, I have been looking forward to working with Indian designers because I am huge #vocalforlocal supporter. I feel happy creating content for brands that are sustainable and who are trying to make it big, especially since the pandemic hit. I want to work with smaller businesses and help them grow.

Where do you find your creative inspiration from?

Creative inspiration is all about you. You need to learn to find your voice in the flood of content that is floating around. Experiment with platforms such as Reels, seek inspiration from it and just do your own thing. Understand how you can put your creativity out there for the world to see. Seek inspiration, but never copy. Because, if everyone does the same thing, why would people want to consume your content, right?

If not an influencer, which career path would you have chosen?

If not an influencer, I would have become an entrepreneur, running my own business. Coming from a Sindhi, business family, I think I would have taken the business route. Or else, I would have been in marketing or advertising because it would have totally synced with the creativity within me.

How would you like to be remembered?

I would like to be remembered as a person who helps people enhance their lifestyle in every little way possible. All my content is created in a way that it suits every single body type. Recently, I started promoting the use of menstrual cups as it is sustainable and so efficient. You won’t believe, around 1000+ people had messaged me regarding their queries, and close to 50-60 people told me that they switched to using menstrual cups after watching my video. Now, that’s something! My vision has always been to be a person who helps others become better versions of themselves.

That said, my love for bling and pink will always be the same. I am the shimmer girl, after all. So, I would also like to be remembered as the girl who brings sparkle and magic to people’s lives.
